Man facing multiple charges after drugs found

On July 11, Florida authorities arrested a man for allegedly hiding illegal drugs. The stash was discovered during a traffic stop.

According to media reports, deputies from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office executed a traffic stop on the 36-year-old defendant after he was observed speeding and failing to wear a seat belt. They also checked his license and discovered he was driving on a suspended license. After noticing that he seemed to be acting nervous and smelled like marijuana, they asked him to exit the vehicle and patted him down. While conducting the pat down, deputies claimed they felt a bulge near the seat of the defendant's pants. They also noticed he seemed to be clenching his buttocks to keep the bulge in place. They asked him to stop clenching, but he refused.

Deputies warned the defendant that introducing drugs to a detention center could result in additional charges. At that point, he allegedly admitted he was out of jail on bond for selling narcotics and would only agree to remove the object causing the bulge if his bond would not be revoked. He was transported to jail and finally agreed to remove the object, which turned out to be a package of drugs. The package contained 12 Lortab pills, 12 oxycodone pills, 9.1 grams of cocaine, 3.5 grams of heroin, 2.4 grams of marijuana, 1.9 grams of ecstasy and 1.1 grams of crack cocaine. In addition, he had $400 in cash in his front pocket. He was arrested and charged with multiple drug charges, including possession with the intent to sell, and driving on a suspended license.

Individuals facing serious drug charges might need the help of a criminal defense attorney. The attorney could challenge the prosecution's case and attempt to get the charges lowered or dismissed.
