5 arrested following Florida drug bust

Dec 18, 2017 | Drug Charges

According to a report from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force, four adults and one minor were taken into custody in Jasper following a drug bust. The incident occurred in Jasper on Nov. 30.

Officers reportedly searched the home in which the four adults and minor were located. Inside of one room where a 28-year-old man and 20-year-old woman were sleeping, the officers found baggies, a loaded handgun and a safe. When the officers opened the safe, they reportedly found 3 grams of methamphetamine inside of a bag and almost 2 pounds of synthetic marijuana.

Officers also report that they found a container in the living room that contained five bags of marijuana. In the kitchen, they discovered a police scanner. The woman initially refused to allow the officers to take a photograph of her and was subsequently arrested and charged with obstruction of a police investigation through the use of a police scanner. The 28-year-old man was charged with various drug offenses for the narcotics that were found in the safe. A 57-year-old man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, and another 28-year-old man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. It was not reported what charges the minor is facing.

Those who are convicted of drug crimes can face lifelong consequences even after they have completed their sentences. They might be barred from receiving housing assistance and have trouble finding work. Criminal defense lawyers who have experience with drug charge cases could work to secure favorable pleas. If there were problems with the way in which the investigation was conducted, an attorney may be able to obtain a dismissal.
